FAQ

Common Questions

How much does it cost to ship a car with ExecuShip?

Price is driven by distance, carrier type and vehicle size. Our estimator applies a $195 base plus a per-mile rate that steps down the further the vehicle travels: $1.05 per mile for the first 500 miles, $0.62 per mile up to 1,500, and $0.48 per mile beyond that. A 1,000-mile open-carrier move lands near $1,030; Chicago to Los Angeles is around $1,599. Enclosed adds a flat $500.

Is the estimate the price I will pay?

It is a close estimate based on current lane pricing. A transportation advisor confirms the final rate with you before a carrier is dispatched, and that confirmed figure is what you pay. No money changes hands until a carrier has accepted the vehicle.

What is "Dispatch Without a Scratch"?

Our guarantee. If your vehicle is damaged in transit, the damage is documented on the Bill of Lading at delivery, and the carrier's insurer denies the claim, ExecuShip reimburses your service fee or the repair cost, whichever is less. Full conditions are in our terms.

How many days will the shipment take?

Carriers cover roughly 400 to 500 miles a day under federal hours-of-service rules. Chicago to Florida is usually three to four days once loaded; coast to coast runs seven to ten. Add a pickup window of one to five days on top.

Is my car insured while it is on the truck?

Yes. Every carrier we dispatch holds active cargo coverage, which we verify before your vehicle is assigned. Any damage claim is filed against the carrier's policy. Belongings packed inside the vehicle fall outside that coverage.

Can I pack belongings in the car?

Up to 100 lbs, stowed in the trunk or below the window line. Carriers are licensed for vehicles, not household goods, and belongings are excluded from cargo coverage.

Do I need to be there at pickup and delivery?

You or someone you authorise. That person walks the inspection with the driver and signs the Bill of Lading at each end. A relative, neighbour, property manager or dealership employee all work.

How much notice do you need?

Two to three weeks is ideal for price and date selection. We take same-week requests regularly, and expedited service exists when a date is fixed.

When and how do I pay?

The service fee is taken only after a carrier has accepted your vehicle and the pickup window is set. The remaining balance goes to the driver at delivery in certified funds. Your card is never touched before a carrier is on the job.

Does the vehicle have to run?

No. We assign a carrier with a winch for vehicles that will not start. Let us know at booking whether it rolls, steers and brakes so the correct truck is sent the first time.

Can I ship to or from Alaska or Hawaii?

Yes, through port service. The vehicle moves overland to Tacoma or Long Beach and crosses by vessel. These moves are quoted by an advisor rather than the estimator.

What happens if my car is damaged?

Write the damage on the Bill of Lading before the driver leaves, photograph it, and call us. We file against the carrier's cargo policy on your behalf, and our guarantee backs you if the carrier's insurer refuses a documented claim.
