About this service
Open Carrier Shipping with ExecuShip
Roughly nine of every ten vehicles shipped in the United States go by open carrier, and it is what our estimator prices by default. The trailer is the same type that delivers brand-new inventory to dealerships: a two-deck steel frame where each vehicle is driven on, strapped at the wheels, and driven off at the other end. Because fuel, tolls and driver hours are shared across the whole load, open transport is the most economical way to move a daily driver, a lease return, or a car you just bought out of state.

What is included
- Lowest cost per mile of any carrier type
- Largest pool of available trucks, so pickup windows stay short
- Collected at your door and delivered to theirs
- Cargo coverage carried by every carrier we dispatch
- Suited to sedans, SUVs, pickups, vans and most daily drivers
Pricing
The estimator prices your exact ZIP pair with a per-mile rate that steps down on longer runs, plus a $195 base and any vehicle-class adjustment. Estimates reflect open-carrier, door-to-door service. Enclosed transport adds a flat $500. Final rate confirmed before dispatch. Or call (855) 500-7447 and an advisor prices it on the line.
How it works
Five Steps, One Advisor
From rate to delivery with the same transportation advisor on your file. Your card is not touched until a carrier has been assigned.
I
Get your rate
Enter two ZIP codes and your vehicle class. The estimator prices the real road distance and shows open and enclosed figures on screen.
II
Book
A transportation advisor confirms the details and your preferred pickup window. Nothing is charged yet.
III
Dispatch
We assign your vehicle to a vetted carrier with verified cargo coverage and send you the driver's details.
IV
Pickup
You get a call the day before. At pickup the driver walks the vehicle with you and notes its condition on the Bill of Lading, which you both sign.
V
Delivery
A second call comes before arrival. You compare the vehicle against the pickup report, sign off, and settle the balance with the driver.
Coverage
Available in Every State
We arrange open carrier shipping to and from all 50 states.

Open Carrier Shipping Questions
Is an open carrier safe for my car?
Yes. Manufacturers move millions of new vehicles a year on open carriers. Your car is exposed to the same weather and road conditions it would meet if you drove it, and it is inspected and documented at pickup and again at delivery.
How much less is open than enclosed?
Open is our base rate. Enclosed transport adds a flat $500 on any lane, short or long, because enclosed trailers carry fewer vehicles and there are fewer of them on the road.
Can I leave things in the car?
Up to 100 lbs of personal items, packed in the trunk or below the window line. Anything heavier can put the load over DOT weight limits, and personal belongings are not covered by the carrier's cargo policy.
